A lot of scientific research has gone into the theory of motivation. I guess you have come across some too. In this 10 minutes video by Dan Pink, author of Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us
prepare for some eye-opening and interesting facts. He explains in an artistic and engaging way.
If you can’t be bothered to watch the video, then the main points are below (I still think you should watch, even if only for the amazing hand drawings as he talks.)
Contrary to the popular belief of carrot and stick, Dan puts these across:
1.) Autonomy – People get motivated when they have a sense of responsibility and control.
2.) Mastery – People get motivated when there is a desire to learn or be a master at an endeavour.
3.) Purpose – People get motivated when they are doing something that connects deeply with them.
Apart from money, what else motivates you? – Are these 3 part of it? You can leave a comment
