I was reminded of something I knew of God today. I was reminded in a way that made it personal and real, not distant or unrelated
One of the amazing things about God is how much he respects us.
Sometimes it is baffling to me on how God manages not to force down his will and ways on us.
On the one hand, I am so short sighted, it’s laughable. Yet I insist on my own way and try to do things with my strength
On the other hand, the Sufficiency of All things, who has all power and can do and undo, is the one that takes a step back and earns my respect
God will not force you to do anything. It is important that it comes from you else you are merely a puppet.
In His wisdom, He helps us come to the realization of our insufficiency. We come to see that we do not have it within us to do certain things.
With respect to some situations, we come to see what God doesn’t want for us and what we don’t want. We also come to see what God wants for us and what we appreciate.
As you go through various experiences, you begin to see how smart God is!
You see it in the fact that He is using everything around you and what you are going through. He is weaving it all together seamlessly to bring you to the appropriate result
All what you are experiencing right now as you wait on Him is all part of the process.
When God says in Isa 45:2 that “I will go before you and level the exalted places, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron”
What God might do is let you touch the doors of bronze and the bars of iron. He might let you push against it, to feel the detail and the strength of the door and bar so that when it breaks, you know who did it.
It is important you know who because it becomes a reference point to strengthen your faith so you throw your lot in with God, completely.
The point is not to strengthen your faith so you can get what you want in the future. Rather, it is so you know God more, and you are more confident to love more, to serve more, to be all He intends you to be.
A similar theme appears in Isa 43:2 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you”
Be strong and keep faith. Do not become weary of this process. You will reap soon (Gal 6:9, Heb 10:35-29). Be strong and courageous
Sometimes the strongest person isn’t the one who takes a step forward, sometimes, it is the one who has the strength to be still.
May grace and peace be multiplied to you for the sake of Christ. Amen
