This morning I got a call from a lady whose family has been going through some very tough times in the past 2 years. Her husband is out of work, framed up with a court case and struggling to pay tuition fees for their kids.
But the call was slightly different, she simply called to say she ‘stole, borrowed or simply identified’ with my blackberry display status which read ‘I choose to be dancing’.
She said ‘when you think you’ve had enough, and can’t take anymore, God shows you that you have so much strength, you can even take more’
A few hours earlier, a knock on their door was met with eviction notice from their apartment from the landlord’s lawyers. And when we can’t choose many things that life really throws at us, we need to be intentionally about what we can choose.
In the midst of these trying times, the family have chosen to be dancing.
Yes, while dancing, tears are streaming down their faces
While dancing, tuition is still unpaid
While dancing, eviction notice sits on the table
While dancing, the challenges still rage on
But while dancing, God takes over to inhabit their praises.
It reminds me of the story in 2 Chronicles 20 of King Jehoshaphat when some other kings and their armies came to attack Israel. It felt like the end of the world for the people of Israel with no way out, but they chose to ‘be dancing’ and God took over the battle. They didn’t even have to fight at all and they miraculously came out victorious.
“2 Chronicles 20:21 – Praise the Lord, For his mercy endure for ever’
The story is still being written for the family and I have no doubt that their testimony is already here!
Are you going through a challenging time too?
What choice are you going to make?
I choose to be dancing.
I choose to be dancing is the title of a song by Donnie McClurkin. A video of the song is below.
Enjoy has you a make the choice that brings God into your situation.
Question: Is dancing an easy choice during a challenging time? How do you choose to dance?
