Hadrian was born in A.D 76 in Spain. His father died during his youth and his cousin, Trajan, who became emperor in A.D 98, became his guardian. Hadrian held military and civilian government posts and travelled to the northern and eastern frontiers of the empire. He became emperor after Trojan’s death in 117.
